Learn something about mexican food

Recipe postcard from San Diego, California

hello!

good morning guys, so glad I greet you through this blog. i hope you guys have a lovely day today. anyway, i just received another recipe card! yay! this is BEEF ENCHILADAS! yum!

What is a beef enchilada?
A traditional Mexican food, enchilada literally means "seasoned with chili pepper". Traditional authentic enchilada sauce is made from dried red chile peppers soaked or ground into a sauce with other spices. Red enchilada sauce is usually made with tomatoes and red chile peppers, while green enchilada sauce is usually made with tomatillos (green tomatoes) and green chili peppers.

What's the traditional method?
The enchilada is typically made with a corn tortilla which is fried briefly in hot lard or oil to soften it and then dipped in enchilada sauce. The tortillas are filled with any of dozens of possible indgredients and rolled up, placed in a casserole and covered with more enchilada sauve, cheese and onions.
Enchiladas can filled with dozens of things depending on the cook's taste and imagination. while beef enchiladas are very popular, chicken and cheese enchiladas as well as vegetables, seafood and eggs may also be found in homes and restaurants.

BEEF ENCHILADAS RECIPE:
18 corn tortillas
4 cups enchilada sauce
1/2 onion (finely chopped)

Heat sauce in skillet, dip tortilla one at a time in the sauce for a few seconds to soften. In a 9x13 baking dish, fill the tortillas with beef and onions and a little sauce. Roll them up until they filled. Pour the remaining sauce over them and sprinkle cheese over all. Bake in oven at 350degrees for 10-15 minutes or until cheese is melted.

The best known of all mexican food recipes is beef enchiladas

happy cooking guys!

Christmas in Finland

so, I repost this from my another blog about postcard. this is just teaser. so please come to my postcard blog for more. just klik HERE :)

Postcard from Finland

Heil!
(Hello in Finnish!)

Christmas is the most celebrated holiday in Finland, and Christmas celebrations in Finland are build around ancient Nordic Christmas traditions. Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing day, known in Finland as St. Stephen's Day, are all public holidays in Finland.

Finnish people believe that Santa Claus or Father Christmas lives in north part of Finland called Korvatunturi (or Lapland), north of the Arctic circle.

How do they celebrate Christmas in Finland?

Everyone cleans their houses ready for the three holy days of Christmas. Animals are given their own Christmas, with farmers sometimes hanging a sheaf of wheat on a tree to be eaten and pecked at by the birds. Nuts and pieces of suet are also hung on trees in bags from the branches.

The first Sunday in December (also called the First Advent) starts the Finnish Christmas season. Many children use advent calendars that count down the remaining days to Christmas Eve.

December 13 is the day of Saint Lucia, who is celebrated with lots of candles and formal celebrations in every town with a candle-crowned young girl. The time for Scandinavian Christmas tree shopping and decorating is coming and Christmas cards are being exchanged.

Everyone tries to be at home for Christmas, including fisherman who try to get their boats into the harbour by December 21st, St.Thomas's Day.

Christmas Eve is very special, when people eat rice porridge and plum fruit juice in the morning. They will then decorate a spruce tree in the home. At midday, the "peace of Christmas" is broadcast on radio and TV by the City Mayor of Turku (which is south Finland). Then they visit Finnish sauna, of course. Visiting the cemetery forms part of many Finns' Christmas rituals. Hey, its not as morbid as it might sound!

Between 5-7pm on Christmas Eve, Christmas dinner is served. Families and friends gather together to share the warm, festive atmosphere of the evening and enjoy the various traditional Christmas dishes. Oven-baked ham, root vegetable casserole, mixed beetroot salad, liver casserole and pates, meat aspics, gravlax or Christmas Eve and herring dishes form the basis of the traditional Finnish Christmas dinner.

The three most essential dishes on Finnish Christmas tables are Oven-baked ham, rutabaga casserole and mixed beetroot salad. without the taste of the traditional dishes, there would be something missing in Finnish Christmas celebration.

In picture on right, clockwise from top right: slices of baked ham, rutabaga casserole, beetroot salad, homemade mustard, sweet pea sauce.

Christmas in Finland officially ends 13days after Chrismas Day.

Christmas gifts may be given out before or after the dinner. The children do not hang up stockings, but Santa Claus comes in person, often accompanied by as many as half a dozen Christmas elves to distribute the presents.

And last but not least, dont forget that "Merry Christmas" in Finnish is 'Hyvää Joulua'!

You can learn more about Finland here :)

You will find recipes for some of the dishes mentioned above in here :)

Hauskaa päivän jatkoa!
(Have a nice day!)

Uncharted Meaning

Uncharted is a song written and recorded by the American singer Sara Bareilles. The song was produces by Neal Avron. it was the second single of her album Kaleidoscope heart.

On 9 November 2010, official behind-the-scenes photographs were posted to Sara's official site, showing "King of anything" filming the video. The picture showed Sara in various outfits, including a Geisha girl costume. However, nothing more was started about the concept of this video, and it was believed to be scrapped for a new version.

A music video was released on March 1, 2011 featuring artist including: Adam Lavine and Jesse Carmichael of Maroon 5, Josh Groban, Pharel Williams of N.E.R.D., Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland, Ben Folds, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, Laura Jansen, Ingrid Michaelson, Vanessa Carlton, Tegan and Sara, Cary Brothers, Greg Laswell, Adam Gardner and Ryan Miller from Guster and Keenan Cahill.

In a blog entry on her official site, Sara described the reason behind the concept:

"this video is about my journey as an artist who looks up to the people around them. This is about being fan of people who take chances, who are fearless, who have integrity and go off into the world saying yes to whats around them. its filled with some of the people in my life who do that everyday. They have impacted my world and are not only incredible artist, but great friends as well. They all worked this giant favor into their very busy lives and helped me out more than I can say."

video

I think this song is conveying the message that she just wants to go her own way: a path that is her own; uncharted.

Too much to hold, everybody has to
Get their hands on gold
And I want uncharted

Everyone seems to go for the same thing and follow similar paths, but she wants something different.

I know I'm getting nowhere
When I only sit and stare like

She's not getting anywhere while living the life she's leading.

I won't go as a passenger, no
Waiting for the road to be laid
Though I may be going down
I'm taking flame over burning out

She's going to do her own thing, be independent, and take initiative. She's going to make her own choices and take her own path.

Compare
where you are to where you want to be, and you'll get
Nowhere

Their way isn't taking them anywhere.

I'm going down
Follow if you want
I won't just hang around
Like you'll show me where to go

She doesn't know exactly where she's going, but she knows she wants to go there because she knows the alternative, which will take her nowhere.

Journey to become a doctor

Hello!

The most pleasing thing is to be back home again :) right?

As you know, I am a medical student, had graduated, which then underwent the clinic (co-ass) and finally my co-ass has been completed sometime in September,2011. Journey to become a doctor does not stop there. I have to undergo the state exam (UKDI) to get through the oath and later graduatedas a doctor.

Now UKDI had been done, the results are already out and I give thanks to God for my graduation. I pass the UKDI thing! hehehehe. with this, I am just waiting for the oath then I become a doctor! what a long long journey~
In November, I forge myself to prepare for UKDI. I have a discussion group with five other people. with them I relearn lessons for five years.

hmm..... I still cant believe that I've reached this point. where I really have become doctors. I remember clearly when I was in high school, my friends and some teachers underestimated me because I choose to be a medical student, this is because I am not the best student in class. But with persistence and hard work and prayer, I finally arrived at this posistion.

My college journey is not always smooth, there's always obstacles. I've had bad grades, broken-hearted moment that destroyed my school and cheating! it was the worst days of my life. but the determination to please my parents and myself, I can go forward. at the clinic I try to be better, try harder and not cheat!

Now I've become a doctor, I have to keep learning. therefore must keep the spirit and still take courage for a better future. :)

for you guys who are in school or collage or are working should also have to keep the spirit of hard work! :)

Teruslah bermimpi karena Tuhan akan merangkul mimpi-mimpi itu.

(keep on dreaming because God will embrace those dreams)

Postcrossing

hi guys!

what's new?

Kim Kardashian divorced after a marriage for 72 days.

Lady gaga wins big at EMA 2011.

Yogyakarta experienced an earthquake again several times this month.

And from me, I have a new hobby. Postcrossing and snail mail :)
I love the postcards and letters have been since long time ago, but I never send letters/postcards before. I think there is no one like anything like this anymore. people prefer to chat on facebook, twitter or messenger. but i was wrong. I found this site and its driving me crazy! I started to send a postcard at the end of October. now I hv been a member for 50days and I've sent 11 postcards. I want to send more than that, but there is a maximum amount on each shipment. so I cant sent more. so far I hv got five postcards from around the world.
Human are never satisfied. right? so I do direct/private swap from facebook :)

last time I get 6 postcards in the mailbox. my heart is racing. very excited. boom boom booom. and when I read it, I smile and laugh by myself. hahahaha. some people at the post office saw me strangely. hahahaha.

basically I like all kinds of postcards, but I'm very fond of historical places. maybe because I like history itself and of course its beauty. and I like postcard written and stamped. I usually write about my culture and the photo in the postcard. while I often ask other people (who will send a postcard to me) write about their culture or poetry that they like.

if you guys want to swap with me, please contact me : sista47c@yahoo.com

I will upload the cards that I received later. this time I will share about this poetry from the postcard that I receive today. I cried when reading it. this poem reveals well how I felt.

I know we've been broken up almost as long as we were together.
But I can still feel in my bones and flowing through my blood that our story isn't finished being told.
I know it the same way I know that the sun doesn't stop shining just because it gets dark outside.
I stopped telling people, thought, because I was supposed to have moved on by now, and nobody cares.
But its OK.
I can wait.
